smart has made a big decision in favor of a small vehicle: The premium intelligent electric automotive brand will create an all-new city two-seater. The smart #2 will extend the product portfolio of the company with an ultra-compact vehicle in the A-segment, marking smart’s return to the segment it defined. The new all-electric model will integrate mindful technology solutions while evolving the unique characteristics that made the original smart fortwo an urban icon. With the smart #2 set to lineup alongside the smart #1, #3, and #5, the inventor of the original city car underlines its commitment to diverse customer needs – proving that smart comes in many forms.

The smart #2 is styled by Mercedes-Benz Design and will be built on all-new proprietary architecture for ultra-compact vehicles, developed by smart’s in-house R&D team. Featuring new technology solutions for its segment, the model is currently in its final design and development phase and will be produced in China. The all-new smart #2 will be launched in China, Europe, and other selected global markets, with plans to premiere in late 2026.

Following the successful feasibility check of the smart internal “project: two”, the company is preparing to premiere the new model in late 2026. April 18, 2025, Shanghai smart, the premium intelligent auto brand, is showcasing its artistic and co-creative brand genes by announcing the unveiling of an all-new art collaboration. The smart #3 Keith Haring Art Car is set to have its debut at the 2025 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. This special art piece pays tribute to Keith Haring’s renowned and influential dynamic urban art style, featuring his recognizable figures and vibrant colors. A production version inspired by this collaboration will become available later this year. Singapore, Egypt, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand, among others, and will be gradually rolled out into other global markets throughout 2025.

April 15, 2025, Auckland smart has officially introduced its premium all-electric SUV line-up to New Zealand through a strategic partnership with Armstrong’s, one of the country’s largest independent automotive groups. The smart #1 is priced from $64,990 + ORC to  $79,990 + ORC, while the smart #3 ranges from $69,990 + ORC to $84,990 + ORC, with both models available in PRO+, Premium, and BRABUS variants.

Designed by Mercedes-Benz Global Design team, the smart #1 was created as a premium compact urban SUV, while the smart #3 is an SUV coupe. Offering a combination of premium avant-garde style and high-tech features while embodying smart’s dedication to innovation and sustainable urban mobility, the smart #1 and smart #3 have already won the acclaim of customers worldwide.

Less than two weeks since orders in New Zealand began, smart has reported a strong positive response to their stunning range of premium all-electric SUV models.
